SEO Packages in Sri Lanka

Three tiers, with every deliverable named. What you will not find is a figure: scope is what decides a fee, and a rate card either overcharges the simple jobs or underquotes the hard ones. This page tells you what is in each tier and what moves the number, so the first call starts from something real.

Why there is no figure on this page

A rate card looks like transparency and behaves like the opposite. The same tier of work costs very different amounts depending on who you are competing with and what state your site is in, so any number printed here would be wrong for most of the people reading it. Published low, it gets walked back on the first call. Published high, it turns away the businesses that were the easiest to help.

So the tiers describe the work rather than the price. You get a scope and a fee after somebody has actually looked at your site and the competitors outranking you, and you get it in writing before anything is committed.

What can be said without a number is where the fee comes from. There is no floor of account managers between you and the work, no sales team taking commission, and no agency margin stacked on top of subcontracted labour. Alston does the work himself, from a small office in Colombo rather than a large one. That structure removes most of what an agency normally charges for, which is why the quote tends to come in under one from a firm with layers.

It is also honest about scale. A small roster at a fair fee is a better business than a large roster at a rate that requires juniors doing the work. If we take on more clients than the hours support, that stops being true, so the roster stays small.

What decides which tier you need

Not the size of your company. Four things, and only one of them is about you:

  • Competition. Ranking a plumber in Matara and ranking a finance company in Colombo are different orders of difficulty. The competitors you name in the first call decide the tier more than anything else.
  • Content volume. If you can write, or already have writers, a lower tier goes further, we brief and edit rather than produce. Content is the largest line item in most SEO budgets.
  • Site condition. A modern site on decent hosting needs weeks of technical work. A ten-year-old custom build on shared hosting can need months before anything else is worth starting.
  • How many markets. One city is Basic. All of Sri Lanka is Growth. Selling into the UK, US, EU or Australia as well is Premium, because that is three keyword sets, three link markets and an hreflang architecture.

What a bargain SEO package actually buys

Run the arithmetic on the cheapest quote you have been given. Divide it by what an hour of competent technical work costs in your market, and you usually get two or three hours a month. SEO does not produce results in three hours a month, whatever the invoice says it covers.

What gets delivered instead is an automated tool report, a batch of directory submissions and some spun blog posts. In the best case it does nothing. In a meaningful number of cases the link building is actively harmful, and cleaning up a toxic backlink profile costs more than the original engagement did.

That is the floor our Basic tier sits above, not the ceiling we are competing under. The point is that you should be able to see, itemised, what a month of work consists of before you agree to pay for it, which is what the three tiers do.

Contracts, notice and what you own

No lock-in. One month’s notice, any month, without a penalty clause. Long contracts exist to protect agencies from clients leaving after seeing the work, and if the work is good they are unnecessary.

You own everything. Your Search Console, GA4, Google Business Profile and any tool account we set up are created in your name and stay with you afterwards. The audit, keyword research and content briefs are yours to keep. An agency that holds your logins is holding you hostage, not delivering a service.

Invoicing is monthly in advance, in rupees for Sri Lankan businesses and in USD for clients billing from overseas, at the prevailing rate. Whatever fee is agreed is held for the first twelve months of the engagement.

Frequently asked questions

How much does SEO cost per month in Sri Lanka?

It depends on the competition you are up against, the state of your site and how much content has to be produced, which is why no figure is published here. You get one after a look at your site, in writing, before anything is committed. What is worth knowing in advance: at the very cheap end of any market there is not enough time in the budget for real work to happen, whatever the deliverables list claims.

Why does Maxinium quote lower than other SEO companies?

No sales team on commission, no account managers between you and the work, and no agency margin on subcontracted labour. Alston does the work himself from Colombo, so you are not paying for the layers. It is also a deliberate choice: the businesses that would benefit most from search are often priced out of the agencies that could help them, and end up buying a bargain package that does nothing. We would rather set the entry point where those businesses can reach it and keep the roster small.

Is there a contract or lock-in period?

No. One month’s notice, any month. Your agreed fee is held for the first twelve months, so leaving is your decision rather than a price rise’s.

Do you charge in rupees or dollars?

Either. Sri Lankan businesses are invoiced in rupees, monthly in advance; clients billing from overseas are invoiced in USD at the prevailing rate. No fixed figure is published in either currency, because a printed rate would be wrong for most readers and a printed exchange rate would be wrong within a month.

What happens when I send a message?

Alston reads it himself and replies within 24 hours on weekdays. You get a straight answer on whether we can realistically move your numbers, which tier would fit, and what would have to change on your side. If the honest answer is that SEO is the wrong spend for you right now (which happens) you get that instead, along with what we would do in your position. There is no cost and no obligation either way.

Can I change package later?

Yes, in either direction, from the following month. Most clients start on Basic or Growth and move up once the technical foundation is finished and content becomes the constraint.

Is there a free trial of the retainer?

No. A single month of SEO produces no measurable outcome, so a free trial would tell you nothing useful and would waste a month of yours. The first conversation is the honest version of the same offer, you see the quality of the thinking, and get a straight answer on fit, before any money changes hands.
